Amerisleep – Labor Day Mattress Sale
We’ve already discussed what sales Amerisleep provide for Labor Day weekend. Instead of repeating ourselves, We’ll take a moment to tell you the difference between the 5 models Amerisleep has in stock.
This option is highly recommended to back and stomach sleepers for its firm sleeping surface. This is the firmest mattress of all the Amerisleep models.
In this mattress, starting from the top is a lightweight, breathable cover, which helps air circulate throughout the bed. Next is 2 inches of Bio-Pur® to increase the sleeper’s comfort and promote airflow, effectively cutting off heat retention. Below that, 8 inches of Bio-Core® acts as the supporting layer.
This material is proven not to sag after decades of use. This foam, like the Bio-Pur®, is plant-based as well.
The AS2 is another mattress that is recommended to back and stomach sleepers. Because this mattress is a bit thicker than the AS1 due to the extra HIVE® layer, the mattress has a softer sleeping surface, earning its place as Amerisleep’s medium-firm mattress.
The AS2 is topped with a soft, airy mattress cover. It ensures that body heat never becomes trapped in the mattress.
Next, 2 inches of Bio-Pur is placed and below that, 2 inches of HIVE® technology. If you remember, HIVE® gives support to the 5 distinct ergonomic zones to ensure your body has proper support. At the very bottom is 8 inches of Bio-Core.
The is Amerisleep’s most acclaimed versatile mattress: the AS3. This is the mattress that could be good for back and stomach sleepers that like a softer mattress for side sleepers who prefer a firmer mattress.
In other words, it’s the medium mattress. Not too firm. Not too soft. Just right!
From here on, the materials in the Amerisleep mattresses will be repeated frequently. To help you understand the composition of the models, we’ll skip over what you already know and give you the basic details.
- First layer – Soft, Breathable Cover
- Second layer – 3 inches of Bio-Pur®
- Third layer – 2 inches of HIVE®
- Fourth layer – 7 inches of Bio-Core®
This is Amerisleeps most popular mattress. It has over 6,100 reviews with an average of 4.5-star rating.
This mattress is geared towards side sleepers. Although there are some back and stomach sleepers who do prefer this soft mattress, we do not recommend it for health reasons. The AS4 rates as the second softest mattress in the Amerisleep collection with the title of medium soft.
- First layer – Soft, Breathable Cover
- Second layer – 4 inches of Bio-Pur®
- Third layer – 1 inch of HIVE®
- Fourth layer – 7 inches of Bio-Core®
This is Amerisleep’s softest mattress with a height of 14 inches. For that reason, it is a great choice for side sleepers.
- First layer – Soft, Breathable Cover
- Second layer – 2 inches of Bio-Pur®
- Fourth layer – 2 inches of Active Flex Layer
- Third layer – 3 inches of HIVE®
- Fifth layer – 7 inches of Bio-Core®
You might have noticed that there are a few things different about this mattress than all other mattresses in Amerisleep’s collection. First, the HIVE® layer has more materials than the Bio-Pur®. Amerisleep engineers switched the typical measurement of the foams to aid in the sleeper’s comfort by targeting the sleepers pressure areas, or the ergonomic zones.
The final difference, the addition of a completely new layer. Active Flex is an extremely responsive comfort layer unique to the AS5. Immediate pressure relief follows when you lay down on the Active Flex layer.
What’s more, the foam’s responsive tendencies add bounce back into the mattress.
A Labor Day Mattress Sale for an Athlete
It isn’t unusual for companies to target their mattresses towards specific people. Some companies focus on making beds for “heavier” people, while others focusing on creating a “cool” mattress.
It’s ideal to find a company that hits its target and more. This is what Zoma has done with their Sports Mattress. And, for Labor Day, it’s available for a great price.
Zoma is offering $100 off its sports mattress. The Zoma mattress is ten inches tall, has two inches of pressure-relieving memory foam, zoned for extra support, and comes with a risk-free 100-night trial and 10-year warranty.
What’s a sports mattress? It’s a product designed with the active lifestyle in mind. This is a big plus for a mattress. Active people need more rest, more time to recover, and often more support. So all the qualities that help make this product great for athletes also make it great for nearly everyone.
Purple’s Labor Day Mattress Sale
Purple is one of the more popular online mattress companies. They started in 2015 with only one model, the Purple, that used a unique hyper-elastic polymer and poly-foam. Since then, they have expanded to have three other models which combine the hyper-elastic polymer with a more traditional innerspring technology.
Ten inches tall, the original Purple doesn’t use innerspring technology like the newer models. It comes with two inches of hyper-elastic polymer (Purple’s pride and joy, this material is meant to be great for alleviating pressure pints) and eight inches of poly-foam. This mattress comes shipped to you in a box, has free shipping, a 100-night trial, and a 10-year warranty.
As of now, this mattress is regular price but comes with two free pillows for Labor Day.
Ten inches tall, the Purple .2 is similar to the original Purple except for one significant change. Instead of a core made of poly-foam, the Purple .2 utilizes innersprings. This gives the mattress more bounce and a more traditional feel.
As of now, this mattress is regular price but comes with two free pillows for Labor Day.
Macy’s Labor Day Mattress Sale
This year, Macy’s has a large mix of different brands for up to 65% markdown off the original store price. This includes Macy’s very own Macybed. Sale runs from the 29th of July to the 3rd of August.
Since the mattresses picked for the Labor Day sales has not been disclosed, we won’t be able to give you detailed feedback on the mattresses. But, Something that we can say is Macy’s is giving away free adjustable bases to those that purchase a luxury mattress. How you can qualify for this deal will be updated as soon as we get our hands on the information.
Mattress Firm has been around for years. They were the company that coined the jingle that set the standard 10 year lifetime of a mattress.
On Labor day, Mattress Firm has a few select mattress sets on sale. They even have a few doorbuster options at a ridiculously low price. Here are a few of the deals that will be available to you on Labor Day.
- $249 – $999 – Hampton and Rhodes mattresses
Since there is no specific mattress that has been advertised, we are unable to give you specified information. Check back in later. If we manage to find more information on the mattresses being sold at Mattress Firm’s Labor Day sale, we’ll list it right here.
1800Mattress.com’s Labor Day Mattress Sale
Often the best way to go is online shopping every possible mattress option lays at your feet. 1800Mattress is a popular mattress retail site that has proven its reliability. It turns over some fabulous deals for its shopper all year long.
Around Labor Day, their deals become even better. This year, you can get up to 60% off selected mattresses.
Sleepy’s Labor Day Mattress Sale
Sleepy’s website includes a wide range of promotional and discount mattresses from major brands. They typically highlight the same mattresses online and in-store deals.
Even though we couldn’t get the specific dates of the start and end of Sleepy’s Labor Day sale, we think that this company’s deals are completely noteworthy.
Here are a few Labor Day deals you should keep your eye on.
- $199 – Sleepy’s Basic 8.5″ Firm Innerspring Queen Mattress
This mattress gives its sleeper a durable and firm sleeping surface. It has 440 Verticoil Springs to distribute weight evenly. On top, it has a quilted foam layer with a soft knit cover. A huge plus for this mattress is that it is eco-friendly.
- $249 – Sleepy’s Rest 10″ Firm Innerspring Queen Mattress Only
This mattress is very much like Sleepy’s Basic 8.5” Firm Innerspring Mattress. The only difference is that it has an additional 2-inches of support foam and foam encased edge support to provide more support to the individual that sleeps on it. All materials on this mattress are CERTIPUR-US certified materials.
It’s uncommon to see such low prices on mattresses. Typically mattresses below $500 are not the best quality. It is our suspicion that the above mattresses may not be worth the investment.
We have only come to this conclusion because we are unable to uncover specific information about the materials used to construct both mattresses. Vague terms –– such as “foam” –– are used to describe their beds with no clarification on the type of foam used.
Even though these are most likely cheap mattresses, we would like to suggest these mattresses as an option for those who are expecting frequent guests over the next year or so. For instance, these mattresses would be great for a guest bedroom or an RV.
Without frequent use, these mattresses will hold up just fine. Just don’t expect them to rise up to the standards of a luxury mattress.
Don’t Underestimate Bed-in-a-Box Companies
It’s great fun to shop around town and try all the beds. Just don’t forget about the more convenient shopping.
Mattress-in-a-Box companies will give some of the best offers. Sure, the mattress may not be $500 off. But, if you think about the quality of the mattress and the amount you’re saving by cutting out the middle man, you’re actually saving quite a bit.
When a mattress goes into a retail store the prices are hiked up significantly. A $900 mattress could easily become $1,500. If that’s the case, even with the $500 savings, you’re still paying $100 more than the mattress’s worth.
With mattress-in-a-box companies, you buy the mattress at value price because there is no middle man. It’s just you and the mattress company. Best part of the deal, you don’t have to pay for shipping, which is the equivalent of a transportation fee from the store to your home.
Bed-in-a-box mattresses offer longer sleep trials than most other retailers.
We highly suggest that you don’t buy a mattress with a sleep trail under 100 days. A prolonged sleep trial allows you to try the mattress in your home. It allows time to work with the company if the mattress doesn’t fit your needs.
Some online companies will send out an extra comforter layer. Some will even change out your mattress for another model. If an exchange happens you will either pay or be refunded the price difference between the two models.
If you simply want to return the mattress you can do so with a complete refund. Just make sure to return the mattress with the period of the sleep trial.
Some online companies make their mattress models available in partner stores or have stores of their own. Look online to see which companies make their bed available for you to try in your local area. If the company you want to buy from isn’t available for you to try, remember the risk-free sleep trial.
These are just some of the few reasons why we promote buying from online bed-in-a-box mattresses.
Labor Day Buyer’s Guide to Mattresses
So you’re going Labor Day Shopping. There’s a whole lot more available to you then you think, especially if you’re going mattress shopping. All mattresses in all their forms are going to be available for purchase.
Mattresses aren’t going to be the only thing available in stores. Adjustable beds and beddings will be majorly discounted. Some stores will give away bedding and foundations for the purchase of a mattress.
Other retailers will sell bedding and foundations at a steep discount all on their own.
As you suspected, mattress sales are a huge part of Labor Day shopping. Some of the best deals all year are found during the Labor Day holiday. Everything from the cheap to the luxurious are available to be purchased.
For your quick reference, here is a list of the types of mattresses that you can purchase during the best Labor Day ever.
Latex mattresses tend to be on the firmer side. They are made from the sap of the Talalay tree. Because of their natural cell structure, they have a natural resistance to allergens.
They match memory foam in conformability and resilience. Latex has an ample amount of pressure relief, preventing the sleeper from sinking into the mattress.
This type of mattress is highly recommended for those who are back and side sleepers.
The innerspring mattresses’ main supportive layer consists of a metal frame with coils cushioning the space between the two frames. It provides support and comfort by forming a flat sleeping surface and regulates how much your body sinks into the mattress. More expensive innerspring mattresses have a pillow top which gives the sleeper more comfort and cushion from the coils.
Here is a list of the different type of coils you’ll find in an innerspring mattress:
- Continuous coil systems are made from many coils connected in a single piece. They are durable, but motion transferring is an issue.
- Bonnell coil systems use individual hour-glassed shaped coils are typically less expensive, but less durable than other systems.
- Double offset coil systems are similar to continuous coil systems, but they are more conforming.
- Pocketed coil systems are made of individually-wrapped coils and are generally more expensive, but provide the best motion isolation.
This type of mattress is best for those who are largely statures or have a larger BMI. It can also be a good mattress for back sleepers.
Hybrids are a combination of foam and innerspring mattresses with perfect support and contour. Innerspring coils provide the support; Meanwhile, the contouring abilities come from the foam.
Hybrids are the f for those who have a larger body mass or structure. They are also great for those who are side sleepers.
Overall foam mattresses are known for their conformability, promotion of spinal alignment, and relief of pressure points. Here are the three most common types of foam that go into a mattress.
Traditional memory foam use petroleum-based foams, which tend to create odors. While known for being durable and comfortable, traditional memory foams are temperature sensitive, with a slow-response feel that can feel like being “stuck” at higher densities.
Gel memory foam typically also use petroleum-based foams, either infused with cool gel to decrease heat retention. Reviews indicate a slightly cooler feel on initial touch. Other mattress reviews from sources like Consumer Reports suggest little overall difference between gel and non-gel foams.
Plant-based foam has a significant amount of natural foam derived from plants in them which reduce odors. Some types emit low to no VOCs, and also exhibit temperature neutral properties for faster responsiveness.
Pillows, Sheets, Blankets. Oh, My!
If you go to a mattress store there’s going to be sections of bedding to dress up your brand new bed. Often times, pillows will be given away free with the purchase of a mattress. A sheet set will be set at a discount and may be lowered with the purchase of a mattress.
It’s safe to say that if you’re going mattress shopping it’s safe to say that bed furniture is going to be on sale as well. Everything from brand name designer bed sets to adjustable mattress foundations are available.
Adjustable foundations are the new fad high-end sleep technology. With a push a button an individual can adjust the bed completely: head, foot, pillow, and all.
The basic adjustable foundations can only do so much. The higher-end models have programmed flat and sleep positions buttons. They can give full-body massages and have installed Wallhugger® technology.
These beds are fantastic for those with chronic pain or sleep apnea, the elderly, or those with brittle bones diseases.
Those who are looking to add this piece of advanced sleeping technology into your bedroom will find that it featured in sales that both include or exclude the purchase of a mattress.
These types of purchases include both the mattress and the foundation. It could be a mattress and a box spring or a mattress and an adjustable bed.
These sales aren’t as popular because the price tag usually amounts to around two to three thousand dollars. However, these tend to be the best deals. The discount is significant next to buying the individual product alone.
You’ve now read all that we know about the upcoming deals. In the section below, you’ll be reading our guidelines on how to shop on a big mattress sale holiday.
Labor Day Shopping Tips
While shopping for your perfect Labor Day Sale Mattress there are a few things you’ll need to keep in mind. Or, maybe it’s many things. There is a lot to consider when buying a mattress if you were to shop any other day of the year.
However, because Labor Day is a huge mattress sale day there are a few more rules you should know.
Real Discounts Vs. Inflated Pricing
On big sale days, it’s common for a product’s prices to be hiked up beyond normal. This is a selling technique that gives customers the illusion they are getting a larger discount then they actually are getting.
To avoid this, check the pricing of the mattress online or compare the pricing to other stores. If a mattress’s ‘original’ store price has been inflated, don’t buy from that store. You can get a better deal somewhere else.
Read the Fine Print
Often times deals aren’t all that they appear. Reading the fine print of an advertisement could save you a trip to the store or a bad purchase.
Often times, a discount won’t come in the form of the advertised dollar amount taken off the product. Instead, a gift card will be given with the advertised dollar amount. Most of the time, the gift card will be store credit.
Which makes it difficult to spend if you’re only there for the mattress. You may end up spending more than you originally intended with deals like this.
Another thing you should look out for is those deals that require you to mail in for a rebate by a certain deadline. These deals may be risky for those that lead busy lives. It can also be a hassle to mail it in to get that money back.
Sometimes to get a deal, you have to buy several products. For example, a mattress and an accessory item purchase to get the mattress deal.
This is the last and most common rule companies place on their products during big sale holidays. The item may only be available in select retail stores or online. This can be a frustrating term.
Often times it causes customers to travel to a store only to find out they could have ordered it from the comfort of their home or that the mattress is only available in that one store that is clear across town.
Ask Questions that will Inform You
Remember, you are making a big purchase. Unlike 20 years ago, we know a lot more about mattresses, sleep, and how both affect our lives. For these reasons, try to learn as much as you can about your sleeping preferences.
Here are a few things to consider:
Back sleepers need a firm mattress. With a soft mattress, pressure points will cause the sleeper joint and muscle soreness. A firm surface helps evenly disperse weight across the mattress causing fewer pressure points and promoting spinal alignment.
Stomach sleepers also need a firmer sleeping surface. When asleep, most people carry their weight in their hips. For stomach sleeper, the weight causes your spine to straighten, which eventually causes medical problems.
A firm mattress will reduce the unnatural straightening of the spine.
Side sleepers need a softer bed. Pressure points are an issue because of the balancing act they perform on their side every night. A softer mattress dispersing the weight to other areas of the body reducing aches and pains.
Even though you know what type of mattress you need from the sleep style section above, you still have your own preferences for the firmness of your mattress.
A back sleeper can have anything from a medium-soft mattress to a firm mattress. Stomach sleepers are more restricted to the firmer mattresses; they can have anything from medium-firm to firm mattresses. Side sleepers are recommended to sleep on medium-firm to soft mattresses.
It all depends on what you like. So, makes you take your time trying out different mattresses and sleep on your decision. Literally – sleep on it.
That is the reason why sleep trials exist.
How Much Weight is Placed on the Mattress
For those that share a bed, this is something that needs to be considered. The weight placed on the mattress changes the way the mattress feels. If too much weight is placed on the mattress it will lose support and may cause one or both individuals to become sore.
It could also cause the mattress to deteriorate faster.
How Much Room Do You Need
If your someone who stretches out or have a companion that stretches out, you’ll need something bringer than a twin.
Queens are the most popular choice for couples. It’s big enough to hold two people or a person with a large animal. If there is an individual that likes to spread out when sleeping, a king-sized mattress would be a good this to look into.
A large part of comparison shopping is learning about the composition of the mattress. To learn about the mattress’s construction, you can look it up online or ask the salesman. If neither the internet or the salesman can tell you what makes up the support system, transitional layer, and comfort layer or how many layers are in the mattress, it’s best to pass over that mattress and go right to the next one in line.
Here are the reasons why.
Not knowing the mattresses composition makes it hard to compare to your other prospective mattresses. You don’t know if the mattress meets all of your needs. It’s best to be sure of your mattress.
You sleep for a third of your life –– might as well be comfortable.
Discounted Quality Vs. Promotional Quality
Everyone wants a premium mattress for a discounted price.
A premium mattress will provide a comfortable sleeping environment and may put an end to sore joints or an aching back. The truth of the matter is most of the time a deal too good to be true is a promotional product; a product that made cheaply with low-quality products and not designed for regular use and will not last longer than a couple of years.
Sometimes there are high-quality deals that are for a ridiculously low price. These deals are certainly worth your pennies; however, protect yourself with good research. Ask informative questions about the structure of the mattress. It’s never a bad thing to be certain of your mattress purchases.
Warranties, Returns, and Sleep Trials
Just like some companies will raise prices to make a product look like the better deal. There are some companies who will significantly decrease the protection the warranty covers and change return policy for their sale products. Both the warranty and return policy contribute to the value of the mattress.
Even though a mattress is for a discounted price, it’s almost never worth it if that mattress turns out to be defective.
